Résumé Les expériences ont été faites pour déterminer s'il y a un effet “préconditionné” lorsque le puceron vert des graminées, (Schizaphis graminum), le puceron des céréales, (Macrosiphum avenae) et le puceron du maïs (Rhopalosiphum maidis) sont élevés sur le blé, l'avoine on l'orge et transférés adultes sur blé, avoine ou orge. D'après le nombre des progénitures produites sur les deuxiemes hôtes, nous avons conclu que toutes les trois espèces peuvent être élevées sur l'orge, et transférées san effets nuisibles sur leur fécondité sur blé ou avoine. Les expériences avec le puceron vert des graminées transféré du blé ou l'avoine, ou avec le puceron du maïs transféré de l'avoine, aux autres plantes, indiquent qu'il est nécessaire de considérer la possibilité d'un effet “préconditionné” par les hôtes d'origine.

Abstract Tests were conducted to determine if there is a “preconditioning” effect when the greenbug, Schizaphis graminum, the English grain aphid, Macrosiphum avenae, and the corn leaf aphid, Rhopalosiphum maidis are reard on wheat, oats or barley and transferred as adults to wheat, oats or barley. Based on numbers of progeny produced on the second hosts, it was concluded that all three species may be reared on barley, and transferrd without detrimental effects on their fecundity to either wheat or oats. Transfer tests of the greenbug from wheat or oats, or of the corn leaf aphid from oats, to other plants, should take into consideration the possibility of “preconditioning” by the original host plants.
