Notes: Conclusions 1. Ruthenium blacks are comparatively active catalysts of the liquid-phase hydrogenation of cyclohexene. 2. In the presence of catalysts containing ruthenium oxide, the hydrogenation of cyclohexene proceeds with an induction period, which is accompanied by a sharp shift of the potential in the anodic direction, to 400 mV. 3. Charging curves of ruthenium black were obtained. A measurement of the surface according to the double-layer capacitance of ruthenium black is impossible, since together with charging of the surface there is an adsorption of oxygen. More reliable values are obtained when the surface is determined according to the hydrogen region. 4. The bond energies of the surface ruthenium atoms to hydrogen and to carbon at the double bond in the cyclohexene molecule were calculated, and it was demonstrated that the presence of oxides in the catalyst decreases the bond energy of the catalyst to hydrogen and increase the bond energy to carbon.

Notes: Conclusions 1. The authors have studied the formation of electron and hole paramagnetic centers in gamma-irradiated magnesium hydroxide and oxide with various degrees of dehydration. 2. Rise in the temperature of preliminary heat treatment of the magnesium oxide causes an increase in the radiation-chemical yield of FS + centers and a decrease in that of V su − centers. 3. The thermal stability of paramagnetic centers in magnesium oxide increases as the hydroxyl group content decreases.

Notes: Conclusions 1. In the short-lived absorption spectra of pulse-irradiated MgO single crystals the authors have identified absorption bands belonging to V− centers and manganese impurity ions. 2. The radiation-chemical yields of V− centers in pulse-irradiated specimens are higher than those in gamma-irradiated ones. 3. The authors have studied the kinetics of destruction of color centers in pulse-irradiated MgO single crystals. They have calculated the rate constants and effective activation energies.

Notes: Conclusions 1. The authors suggest a model to explain the axial symmetry of the hole center V− in magnesium oxide. 2. Using the model they consider the possible alternatives for localization of the hydroxyl groups of the hole center. 3. In analytic form, they express the values of the g factors for the V− center in terms of the parameters of the method of molecular orbits. The experimental values of the g factors can be explained if we assume localization of one or two hydroxyl groups in the first or second layer from the O− radical ion in the MgO lattice.
