Notes: [Auszug] In a new approach to this problem we carried out the crystallisation of DL-NaNH4 tartrate in the presence and absence of chiral p particles from 3aP. Below 27 C, DL-NaNH4 tartrate crystallises in racemic conglomerates18, that is, D and L crystallisation centres form independently and then grow. Any ...

Notes: Summary Electron microscopy of the liver of methotrexate-treated psoriatic patients revealed junctional abnormalities consisting of detachment of desmosomal plaques between hepatocytes. Mitochondria anchoring desmosomal microfilaments were frequently noted.

Notes: Summary Isothermal crystallization of D,L-sodium-ammonium tartrate with traces of different impurities admixed shows that the added chiral contaminations produce a preferential crystallization of the tartrate isomer of same handedness. The critical lowest concentration of effective seeding agents is 0.1-0.5 %. 1 % optically active excess material induces 1.0-3.6 % optical purity in the deposited crystals. An analysis of the relevant data reported so far gives similar figures in different crystallization systems. The relation of the results to the suggested lattice energy difference between enantiomers is discussed.

Notes: Summary Intravenous injection of hexadimethrine bromide in rats causes necrosis of the anterior pituitary. As early as after half an hour there is dilatation of the vessels, slight intravascular fibrin precipitation, rupture of the vessel walls, and leaking of plasma into the spaces between the parenchymal cells. At one hour, platelets accumulate around the small fibrin coagula and also become attached to the ruptures of the vascular walls; these may occlude the capillary lumen. The necrosis of the parenchyma becomes recognizable later, and is apparently secondary. The necrosis is thus considered to be the result of a local circulatory disturbance.

Notes: Summary The vessels of the left adrenal of rats were clamped for 60, 90, and 120 minutes. The histochemical alterations were studied and compared with the histological changes 1, 2, 4, 6, 12, and 24 hours and 4, 7, 10, 14, 21 and 28 days after the clamps were released. Two hours after the temporary ischemia in the region of the infarcts considerable diminution of the basophilic substance of the cytoplasm and decrease in the activity of the δ5-3Β- hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase could be detected, and the alkaline phosphatase of the capillaries decreased as well. Within four hours thereafter a fall in the activity (and after 12 hours complete disappearance) of the other enzymes examined (succinic dehydrogenase, acid phosphatase, non-specific esterase) could be observed. The histochemical picture of the surviving parenchyma could not be distinguished from that of the controls. The activity of the enzymes studied in the newly formed cells of the regenerating parts was similar to that of the cells of the intact adrenal cortex.

Notes: Summary Vinblastine, given intravenously to rats, leads to disappearance of microtubules, formation of paracrystalline inclusions and accumulation of fat droplets in the cytoplasm of the perisinusoidal cells of the liver suggesting that microtubules of the perisinusoidal cells play a role in lipid metabolism.
