    Notes: Abstract Respiratory hypersensitivity to ascaris extract aerosol and the potentation of airway resistance increase caused by acetylcholine and histamine challenge produced by this allergen exposition were carried out on four dogs. The effect of disodium cromoglycate on these reactions was also studied. All animals presented significant respiratory distress with ascaris extract aerosol, which could be avoided by previous exposure to disodium cromoglycate aerosol. The increased response of the bronchial system to acetylcholine and histamine, observed after allergen aerosol, could not be abolished by disodium cromoglycate aerosol.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Durch die Anwendung der Beziehung Strömungswiderstand/intrathorakales Gasvolumen wird das Lungenemphysem innerhalb der chronisch obstruktiven Lungenerkrankungen qualitativ abgegrenzt. Für diese Gruppen wurden die Immunglobuline, die alpha1-Trypsinaktivität im Serum wie die Aktivität weiterer Proteaseinhibitoren bestimmt. Bei den Immunglobulinen zeigen sich in den verschiedenen Gruppen keine wesentlichen Unterschiede. Alpha1-Antitrypsin war bei der Emphysemgruppe unwesentlich erniedrigt. In dieser Gruppe waren 2 Patienten mit alpha1-Antitrypsindefizit vorhanden. Die zweidimensionale Auftrennung des Inter-alpha-Trypsin-Big-Inhibitors läßt 3 Flächen erkennen, die bei den schwereren Emphysemformen signifikant erniedrigt sind. Eine Störung des Inter-alpha-Trypsin-Big-Inhibitors in dessen turn-over, parallel gehend mit dem zunehmenden Schweregrad der Emphysembildung, wird diskutiert.
    Notes: Summary By application of the correlation flow resistance/intrathoracic gas volume the lung emphysema is differentiated in quality within the scope of chronic obstructive lung diseases. For these groups immunoglobulins, the alpha1-trypsin activity in serum and the activity of further protease inhibitors were determined. There are no substantial variables in the different groups with regard to immunoglobulins. In the emphysema group alpha1-antitrypsin was a little reduced. This group included 2 patients with an alpha1-antitrypsin deficit. The two-dimensional separation of the inter-alpha-trypsin big inhibitor shows 3 areas which decrease significantly in case of severe emphysemata. The irritation of the inter-alpha-trypsin big inhibitor, i.e. in its turnover, parallel to the increasing degree of emphysema formation, is discussed.
