Notes: Raman spectra of lead chloride single crystals have been measured at several temperatures, up to near the melting point. An assignment of the eighteen Raman-active modes is made, based on low temperature polarized spectra. Analysis of the high temperature spectra shows that some Raman peaks can be related to a disordered chlorine sublattice. A comparison is made with the spectra of superionic compounds, where one sublattice can be considered as molten.
