Zusammenfassung Es wird über 2 Fälle von „Trinksucht“ berichtet. Beide zeigten eine ausgeprägte Neurose mit typischen Konfliktsituationen, die für Manifestation und Verlauf der Polydipsie maßgeblich waren. Neben dem abnormen Durst, unter dem die Patientinnen am meisten litten, bestanden zahlreiche andere psychosomatische Beschwerden. Experimentell gelang es, das pathologische Trinkverhalten als Hauptsymptom unter aktuellem Streß zu reproduzieren.

Summary 2 cases of compulsive drinking are described. Both showed a marked hysterical neurosis with typical conflict situations, which determined manifestation and course of the polydipsia. Apart from the abnormal thirst, from which the patients suffered most, there were numerous other psychosomatic complaints. Experimentally it was possible to reproduce the pathological drinking behavior, the main symptom through acute stress.
