Summary A light and electron microscopic study on a surgically removed medulloblastoma with spongioblastic cells was carried out. In these cells the massive occurrence of glial fibrils is a frequent finding. In addition there were observed many cells with abundant droplike inclusions. Those inclusions are formed by aggregation of glial filaments in a similar manner like Rosenthal Fibers. This process is obviously combined with a dystrophic alteration of the cell. It is suggested that the occurrence of these spongioblastic cells in a medulloblastoma is rather due to a differentiation of medulloblastoma cells, than to a coincidence of 2 kinds of neoplasms. This phenomenon points to the neuroectodermal origin of the medulloblastoma.
