Notes:
Summary Pyriformis muscles of Rana temporaria were denervated by crushing the sciatic nerve. One to three months later most slow fibres were re-innervated by motor axons with conduction velocities above 5 m/sec. Since normal slow fibres were never found to have motor axons conducting faster than 5 m/sec it is concluded that, at an early stage, slow fibres are re-innervated non-selectively by axons of the fast type.
