Notizen: Abstract This paper describes the techniques that have been developed in attempts to photograph in detail the events occurring during the electrical breakdown of an insulating liquid. As the breakdown occurs at random times, it has been necessary to develop a means of synchronizing the recording system with this breakdown. The techniques discussed make it possible to photograph the discharge in the streak mode with a time resolution of only a few picoseconds.
