Description / Table of Contents:
Organic pigment dyestuffs are treated by polyreactions on the premises, that the pigment surface bears functional groups with initiating activity and secondly, that the initiator groups are incorporated during the polyreaction as endgroups in the macromolecules. An anionic polyestersyntheses by copolymerization of ethylene carbonate and phthalic anhydride on copper-phthalocyanine pigments and on azo pigments containing salt-like carboxylic and sulfonic groups was investigated. In addition, a cationic polymerization of styrene was performed on copper phthalocyanine pigments containing salt-like acylperchlorate groups. The poly-reactions result in soluble and insoluble reaction products; the soluble productsconsist of dyed polymers. The insoluble products contain up to 60% polymerwhich is not extractable from the pigment.
Notes:
