    Notes: Abstract An integro-differential equation, proposed by Volterra (1931), is used to reproduce the results of MIT model of growth of population. The effects of pollution are taken into account assuming an exponential weighting function and a delay time. Predominant non-linear effects are produced by the dependence of life-time of pollutants on the pollution load.
