Notes: Abstract— In the ‘Quaking’ mouse, a deficiency in the long chain fatty acid content of galactolipids has been shown to occur.Myelin in the mutant has been compared to myelin in adult and in 12-day-old controls. We have shown that myelin is not only quantitatively reduced but also qualitatively modified, with a higher protein and a lower galactolipid content. Cerebrosides contain only a small amount of kerasin, lacking long chain nonhydroxylated fatty acids in comparison to both controls; the relative percentage of phrenosin is increased.Although many similarities exist between adult Quaking myelin and myelin at 12 days, differences have been shown to occur which may be in relation to a genetic block at an earlier stage of development.

Notes: [Auszug] The two myelin deficient mutant mice, "Quaking" and "Jimpy"4, manifest symptoms at the time of myelin formation, around the tenth day after birth. Although they have the same apparent phenotype, characterized by an abnormal gait, tremor and seizures, they have a different genotype; the Quaking ...

Notes: Diazo-dibenzoylmethane I undergoes two primary photochemical processes leading to α-phenyl-α-benzoyl-methane II and dibenzoylmethane III. The formation of II is related to the lowest excited singlet state of I and the formation of III is related to the lowest excited triplet state of I. The quantum yields of both processes (ΦII, ΦIII) are strongly wavelength dependent. It is unambiguously demonstrated, that the population of the two excited states depends on the energy of the exciting light, thus causing a wavelength effect. There is shown to be an activation barrier controlling the rate of intersystem crossing from the S1 to the T1 level of I.

Description / Table of Contents: Cyclic Esters of Stibinic AcidThe reaction of phenyldichlorstibine and triethoxyantimony with 1,2-diols (catechol, pinacol), 1,2-dithiols (toluol-3,4-dithiol, 1,2-ethandithiol), and 2-mercapto-ethanol yields 2-organo-1,3,2-diheterostiboles and -stibolanes. These substances are monomeric in the case of the dithia-compounds and polymeric in the case of the oxa-compounds.

Description / Table of Contents: Esters of Methylstibonous Acid. II.The reaction of methyldibromstibine with sodium alcoholates and phenolates yield methyldialkoxi and methyldiphenoxistibines. Interchange reactions of the methyldiethoxistibine with thiols, 1,2-diols, 1,2-dithiols, and 2-mercapto-1-oles form dithioesters and cyclic esters of the methylstibonous acid in nearly quantitativ amount and high purity.
