Zusammenfassung Bei i.v.
Notes:
Summary After intravenous injection of131iodine-albumin (100 µCi Risa) the blood volume of the uppermost skin layer up to 0.5 mm in diameter can be assessed by measuring theβ-radiation. Thisβ-radiation is calculated directly or by differential procedures from the total primaryβ- andγ-radiation after transformation of131iodine-albumine into non-radiating xenon. Changes in blood flow and vascular permeability in the skin as caused by intravenous and topical application of nicotinic acid compounds were analysed using this isotope method. Also the release of heat, the development of erythema and of urticarial dermographism were measured. The effect of nicotinic acid on human skin is composed of individually varying factors such as: a) The increase of the blood flow in the arterioles, proved by the increased skin temperature and release of heat. b) The development erythema caused by a shift of the blood volume into the subpapillary vascular plexus which is accompanied by an intensive rise ofβ-radiation following the injection of131iodine-albumin. c) The marked increase of vascular permeation as proved by a rise of theβ-radiation without a correlated increase in heat release. These conditions correspond to urticarial dermographism triggered by topically applied nicotinic esters. It is concluded that the assessment of theβ-radiation after injecting131iodinealbumin is a highly sensitive and reliable indicator of circulatory changes in the terminal vessels.
