Notes:
Trichomonas vaginalis infection was found by culture of vaginal material in CPLM medium in 18·2 per cent of 1732 unselected adult women in the course of mass screening for the early detection of cancer of the uterus in a town in Lombardy. The differences between the incidence of infection in the various cytological classes according to Papanicolaou were statistically significant. In Class I the observed incidence of trichomoniasis was 34 per cent less than expected, in Class II it was 94 per cent greater; in Class III it was 221 per cent greater; and in Classes IV and V taken together it was 119 per cent greater than expected.
