    Notes: Abstract The crystal and molecular structure of 5-anilinopentadienylidenanilinium bromide has been solved by X-ray diffraction methods. The crystals of this compound are monoclinic, space groupC2/c (No. 15), with unit cell data:a = 14.63,b = 12.68,c= 17.77 Å and β = 104.8 °,D m = 1.39 g cm−3,Z = 8,D c = 1.37 g cm−3 and μ = 38.4 cm−1 (CuKα radiation). The structure has been refined to anR-value of 0.049, using diffractometer intensity data for 2014 reflexions. The bond angles in the pentamethene chain are widened by about 3.8 ° from the expected value of 120 °, owing to the repulsion of hydrogen atoms in the chain. Steric hindrances from the hydrogen atoms cause the phenyl rings to be twisted by approximately 20.7 and 16.5 ° in the opposite directions with respect to the pentamethene chain. The nitrogen atoms take part in hydrogen bonds with the neighbouring bromine atoms (N ...; Br = 3.35 Å).

    Description / Table of Contents: Résumé La définition du moignon de bras et de jambe court et extrême court est donnée. Aujourd'hui il est possible, à provider le moignon court avec des prothèses. Les actions du moignon extrême court sont limitées et son provision avec prothèses est difficile. Quant à la développement des bras arteficiels et des prothèses de jambe il est recommendé de préserver aussi des moignons extrême courts. En ces cas il existe la possibilité des actions musculaires suffisantes et d'éviter en consequénce dérangements secondaires des epaules ou du bassin. Une révision de la schème de zur Verth est proposée.
    Abstract: Zusammenfassung Vorschlag für die Begriffsbestimmung des sehr kurzen Oberarm- und Oberschenkelstumpfes gegenüber dem sogenannten Kurzstumpf. Der Kurzstumpf ist heute ausreichend prothetisch versorgbar. Der sehr kurze Stumpf hat eine eingeschränkte Aktionsfähigkeit, und seine prothetische Versorgung ist noch problematisch. Die Weiterentwicklung des pneumatischen Kunstarmes und der Beinprothesen legen eine Erhaltung sehr kurzer Stümpfe nahe. Hierfür spricht auch das Erhaltenbleiben bestimmter Muskelaktionen und damit die Vermeidung sekundärer Schultergürtelveränderungen. Eine Revision des zur-Verth-Schemas wird diskutiert.
    Notes: Summary In this article is given a definition for the extreme short upper arm stump and thigh stump in differentation to the short stump. The short stump can be to day sufficiently provided with protheses. Meanwhile the extreme short stump shows reduced action and its provision with protheses is already a problem. The further development of the pneumatic artifical arm and of the thigh protheses recommend preservation even of extreme short stumps. — In this case the possibility of distinct muscle actions is more probable and in consequence secondary derangements of the shoulder and pelvis can be avoided. A revision of the scheme of zur Verth is proposed.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Vergleichende rheographische Untersuchungen belegten in 6 von 40 Fällen ein auf den Oberschenkelstumpf beschränktes arterielles Verschlußsyndrom. An Unterschenkel-, Fuß- und Armstümpfen waren hingegen nur geringgradige Durchblutungsausfälle nachweisbar. Die Amputationen wurden vor 20–30 Jahren ausgeführt. Ein kausalgenetischer Zusammenhang zwischen dem isolierten Durchblutungsausfall am Oberschenkelstumpf und den Amputationsfolgen wird angenommen. Diese Annahme wurde durch die angiographischen Untersuchungsergebnisse an Oberschenkelstümpfen (Langhagel) und Unterschenkelstümpfen (Hasse et al.) weitgehend gestützt. Der Beginn der Gefäßkalibereinengung fällt danach mit der früheren Gefäßunterbindungsstelle zusammen. Der funktionell insuffiziente, später atrophierte Arterienstumpf ist oft auch mit Hilfe der Kollateralen nicht in der Lage, das periphere Gewebe ausreichend zu versorgen. So resultieren häufig Dystrophie und Atrophie aller Gewebsschichten des Amputationsstumpfes. Abschließend Überlegungen zur Arterienstumpfversorgung.
    Notes: Summary Comparing rheographic examinations demonstrated in 6 of 40 cases of thigh amputated men an arterial occlusion syndrome. Smaller deficits of blood circulation were seen in shank-, foot- and arm-stumps. The amputations were performed 20 to 30 years ago. A causal-genetic connection between the isolated deficit of blood circulation at the thigh stump and the consequences of the amputation is supposed. This assumption was confirmed by the angiographic examinations at thigh stumps (Langhagel) and at shank stumps (Hasse et al.). The localisation of the stenosis of the vessel calibre coincides with the former place of the ligature at the blood vessel. The functional insufficient, later atrophic artery stump is often not capable, even by support of collaterals, to supply the peripherial tissue sufficiently with blood. Therefore the result is often dystrophy and atrophy of all tissue layers of the amputation stump. Finally are made considerations on the surgical technics in forming the artery stump.
