Notes: [Auszug] Based on these considerations, attempts were made to demonstrate anti-placental antibody in the sera of post-partum patients. Portions of placentas obtained from normal deliveries were immediately washed in EDTA-buffered saline (0-01 M EDTA adjusted to pH 7-2) until largely free of blood. A ...

Notes: Abstract Certain chemical conditions must have been fulfilled and certain hydrological framework must have prevailed when large bodies of sedimentary dolomites were formed. This paper discusses the chemistry of dolomite formation, analyses quantitatively the movement of subsurface waters and the relation of flow rate to dolomitization. The geologic environment favorable for dolomitization could be interpreted in terms of chemistry and/or hydrology. No new hypothesis of dolomitization is presented, only the minimum conditions necessary for dolomite formations are defined.

Notes: Abstract Crossing over frequency was determined for five marked regions covering most of a chromosome arm. The results of a 12th backcross were compared with previously published results from the noninbred f1. Exchange frequency increased significantly following inbreeding. Chiasma interference remained positieve, but was somewhat less intense in b12.

Notes: Measurements of thermal conductivity of heat-treated and γ-irradiated polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) are reported for the 10-180°C. temperature range. Conductivity of PTFE is observed to be largely temperature-independent with a value of about 6.5 × 10-4 cal./cm.-sec.-°C. for the as-received material. Slight anomalous changes in conductivity data occur in the 20 and 125°C. temperature regions. The former is assumed to be associated with the first-order crystalline transitions which occur near 19 and 30°C., while the latter may be associated with a relaxation process near 400°K. The anomaly in the conductivity which occurs near 20°C. is affected by annealing or radiation treatments, and is correlated with crystallinity and specific volume changes previously reported. The overall conductivity level is observed to decrease for annealed, quenched, or irradiated samples. From estimates of crystallinity, it is noted that the thermal conductivity is not a simple function of per cent crystallinity in these cases.
