Conclusions Experimental investigations of the stresses in the components of the PR-7 press showed that both with central and with eccentric loading in the press columns, together with the tensile stresses, there develop slight bending stresses which give rise in the main to adjustment inaccuracies, imperfect fitting of the nut surfaces to the faces of the upper cross pieces and elastic bending in the upper cross pieces. The eccentric application of a load in this press design does not produce bending stresses in the columns. The possible eccentric loads with an automatic working cycle do not create dangerous stresses in the columns or the upper cross pieces of the press.
