    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract The crystal structure of LiNa[Ge4O9] has been determined by means of three-dimensional Patterson and electron density syntheses and refined by least-squares methods. The orthorhombic unit cell (Pcca-D 2h 8 ) having the lattice parametersa=9.31,b=4.68 andc=15.88 Å contains 4 formula units. The crystal structure consists of [GeO3] n -chains of tetrahedrally coordinated Ge-atoms which are connected by [GeO6]-octahedra to form a three-dimensional framework. The interatomic Ge-O-distances are found to be 1.758[4] and 1.866[6] Å. The compound LiNa[Ge4O9] represents a member of the solid solution series Li2−x Na x [Ge4O9].
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Die Kristallstruktur der Verbindung LiNa[Ge4O9] wird durch dreidimensionale Patterson- und Fourier-Synthesen bestimmt und mit Hilfe der Methode der kleinsten Quadrate verfeinert. Die rhombische Elementarzelle (Pcca-D 2h 8 ) mit den Abmessungen:a=9,31,b=4,68,c=15,88 Å enthält 4 Formeleinheiten. Die Struktur wird aus [GeO3] n -Ketten mit tetraedrisch koordiniertem Germanium aufgebaut, die über [GeO6]-Oktaeder zu einem dreidimensionalen Gerüst vernetzt sind. Als mittlere interatomare Ge-O-Abstände wurden erhalten: 1,758 [4] und 1,866[6] Å. Die Verbindung LiNa[Ge4O9] stellt ein Endglied der Mischreihe Li2−x Na x [Ge4O9] dar.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract The crystal structure of Li6[Si2O7] has been determined by means of Patterson projections, 3-dimensional Fourier syntheses and the least-squares method. The lattice parameters of the tetragonal unit cell (P421m-D 2d 3 ) area=7.715 andc=4.88 Å. The compound belongs to the sorosilicates having isolated [Si2O7]-groups. The coordination numbers of the lithium ions are 4 and 5. The average interatomic distances were found to be: Si-O : 1,64 Å; Li-O : 1.95 [4] and 2.18 [5] Å.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Die Kristallstruktur von Li6[Si2O7] wird mit Hilfe von Patterson-Projektionen und dreidimensionalen Fourier-Synthesen sowie nach der Methode der kleinsten Quadrate bestimmt. Die Gitterparameter der tetragonalen Elementarzelle (P421m-D 2d 3 ) betragen:a=7,715;c=4,88 Å. Die Verbindung zählt zu den Sorosilicaten mit isolierten [Si2O7]-Gruppen. Die Lithiumionen weisen gegenüber Sauerstoff die Koordinationszahlen 4 und 5 auf. Als mittlere Abstände [Å] wurden ermittelt: Si-O : 1,64 Li-O : 1,95 [4] und 2,18 [5].

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract Crystal data of the compounds 3 PbO·GeO2, 3 PbO·2 GeO2, PbGe(Ge3O9) and 2 PbO·SiO2 were determined through single crystal techniques. In the system GeO2-SiO2 the complete solid solution could be proven experimentally by means of hotpressing techniques. In the ternary system PbO-SiO2-GeO2 the exchange of Ge by Si in the germanate compounds was studied.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Kristallographische Daten der Verbindungen 3 PbO·GeO2, 3 PbO·2 GeO2, PbGe(Ge3O9) und 2 PbO·SiO2 werden aus Einkristallaufnahmen ermittelt. Im Zweistoff GeO2-SiO2 wird die vollständige Mischkristallbildung mit Hilfe des Heißpressens experimentell nachgewiesen. Im Dreistoff PbO-SiO2-GeO2 wird der weitgehende Ersatz von Ge durch Si in den Germanatphasen festgestellt.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract Technical ferro-titanium alloys having 30, 40 and 70 wt.% Ti contain oxygen. The nature of the oxygen bond in such phases has been studied. By means of synthetic Ti-Fe-O samples the essential part of the ternary system has been investigated. It has been proved that oxygen occurs in alloys of 30 wt.% Ti as TiO and in alloys containing 40 and 70 wt.% Ti, respectively, as an η-oxide (Ti4Fe2O). In alloys of low oxygen content the compounds TiFe2 (Laves phase) and Tife have been found.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Technisches Ferrotitan mit 30, 40 und 70 Gew.% Titan enthält Sauerstoff; die Art der Bindung des Sauerstoffes in derartigen Legierungen wird untersucht. Anhand von synthetischen Ti-Fe-O. Proben wird der maßgebliche Teil dieses Dreistoffsystems studiert. Es ergibt sich, daß der Sauerstoff bei Ferrotitan mit 30 Gew.% Ti in Form von TiO und in Ferrotitan mit 40 bzw. 70 Gew.% Ti als η-Oxid (Ti4Fe2O) vorliegt. In legierungen mit geringem Sauerstoffgehalt werden dieLaves-Phase TiFe2 und TiFe nachgewiesen.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract Mo3CoB3, Mo3NiB3, W3CoB3, and W3NiB3 were found to possess a new type of crystal structure (W3CoB3-structure type). Trigonal prismatic groups [T 6B]* are linked together forming chains in such a way that B3-groups occur. These borides do probably exist with a larger amount of boron as to compared with the formula.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Mo3CoB3, Mo3NiB3, W3CoB3 und W3NiB3 kristallisieren in einem eigenen Typ (W3CoB3-Struktur). Das trigonal prismatische Bauelement [T 6B]* ist zu Ketten vereinigt, wobei B3-Gruppen entstehen. Die Phasen sind vermutlich Bor-reicher als obiger Formel entspricht.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract Alloys within the ternary systems: {Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta}-{Ni, Cu, Ag, Au}-{Zn, Al, Ga, Sn, Pb} have been prepared mainly in the domain of 50–60 a/oT, 10–30 a/o 8a- and 1b-metal and 15–40 a/o 2b–4b-metal. The phases Zr3Cu2Zn, Zr3Ag2Zn, Zr3Au2Al, Hf3Cu2Zn, Hf3Au2Al are found to be isostructural with the Ti2Ni-type. Hf5Sn4 crystallizes with Ti5Ga4-type, while homogenous samples having almost the same crystal structure such as Zr5Pb3Cu, Hf5Sn3Ni, Hf5Sn3Cu and Hf5Pb3Cu can also be considered as a filled Mn5Si3-structure. The small Ni- and Cu-atoms do play the same role as non metal atoms. V3(Au, Ga)2Nx, Nb3(Au, Ga)2Nx and Ta3(Au, Ga)2Nx possess a partially ordered parent lattice of the β-manganese-type. It appears however that for stabilization of Nb3Au2 non metals, such as oxygen, nitrogen or carbon have to be present. The phase of formula Nb55Au45 having β-Mn-structure reported in the literature cannot be observed in purely binary Nb-Au-alloys.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Legierungen in den Systemen: {Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta}-{Ni, Cu, Ag, Au}-{Zn, Al, Ga, Sn, Pb} werden aus den Komponenten vorzugsweise im Verhältnis 50–60 At%T-, 10–30 At% 8a-und 1b-Metall und 15–40 At% 2b–4b-Metall hergestellt. Die Phasen Zr3Cu2Zn, Zr3Ag2Zn, Zr3Au2Al, Hf3Cu2Zn, Hf3Au2Al kristallisieren im Ti2Ni-Typ bzw. in einer Variante desselben. Hf5Sn4 ist mit Ti5Ga4 isotyp, dagegen lassen sich homogene Legierungen mit fast gleicher Struktur wie Zr5Pb3Cu, Hf5Sn3Ni, Hf5Sn3Cu und Hf5Pb3Cu ebensogut zum aufgefüllten Mn5Si3-Typ zählen. Die kleinen Ni- und Cu-Atome übernehmen dabei die Rolle von Nichtmetallen. V3(Au,Ga)2Nx, Nb3(Au,Ga)2Nx und Ta3(Au,Ga)2Nx besitzen ein metallisches Wirtgitter vom β-Mangan-Typ; bei Nb3Au2 scheint die Anwesenheit von Stickstoff (Sauerstoff) zur Stabilisierung des β-Mn-Carbid-Typs erforderlich. Die in der Literatur1 angegebene Phase Nb55Au45 mit β-Mn-Typ konnte in stickstoff-freien (binären) Legierungen nicht erhalten werden.
