Zusammenfassung Obwohl in den letzten Jahren in einigen amerikanischen und europäischen Publikationen die Meinung vertreten wurde, die postoperative Parotitis sterbe im Zeitalter der Antibiotica aus, wurde in Übereinstimmung mit anderen Autoren beobachtet, daß die Erkrankung eine ungebrochene Aktualität besitzt. An 70 Fällen von postoperativer Parotitis nach 13227 operativen Eingriffen wird die Überlegenheit der sofortigen Entzündungsbehandlung mit Röntgenstrahlen demonstriert, durch die es in 65 Fällen zu komplikationsloser Abheilung kam.

Summary Even though, during the last few years, a few American and European publications have advocated the opinion that postoperative parotitis is dying out in the antibiotic era, it was observed, in agreement with other authors, that the disease is as prevalent as ever. On the basis of 70 cases with postoperative parotitis after 13,227 surgical procedures the superiority of immediate treatment of the inflammation with radiation is demonstrated. In 65 cases this produced healing without complications.
