    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract New derivatives of 11-Oxo-11H-isoindolo[1,2-c] (1,2,4)-benzothiadiazine-5,5-dioxide (I), the synthesis of which had been reported in the preceding paper1, have been prepared. Starting from orthanilamide and subsituted phthalic acids, the 8-chloro- and 9-nitro-derivatives of the ring system were obtained. Further, NaBH4-hydrogenation yielded, in addition to the main product II, a so far unknown byproduct III, the CO-group of which was reduced to the CHOH-group.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Es wurden neue Derivate des 11-Oxo-11H-isoindolo[1,2-c] (1,2,4)-benzothiadiazin-5,5-dioxids (I) dargestellt, über dessen Synthese in unserer 1. Mitt.1 berichtet worden war. Ausgehend von o-Aminobenzolsulfonamid und substituierten Phthalsäuren wurden das 8-Cl- und das 9-Nitroderivat des Ringsystems erhalten. Weiters wurde bei der NaBH4-Hydrierung neben dem Hauptprodukt II eine bisher unbekannte Verbindung III erhalten, bei der die CO-Gruppe des Ringsystems zur CHOH-Gruppe reduziert wurde.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract The structure of the ring system synthesized out of phthalic or phthalaldehydic acid and orthanilamide was elucidated. Derivatives of this ring system are potential diuretics. Structure was determined by means of the NMR-spectrum of the N-methyl derivative IV and the preparation of this compound out of o-N-methylsulfamylaniline and phthalaldehydic acid. Further, the positions of substituents in the derivatives prepared out of 4-nitro- and 4-chloro-phthalic acid were clarified. Starting from phthalaldehydic acids the corresponding dihydro-compounds with obvious positions of substituents were synthesized, oxidized to the benzothiadiazine derivatives with C=N-double bonds and compared with the compounds prepared out of phthalic acids.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Es wurde der Strukturbeweis für das aus Phthalsäure bzw. Phthalaldehydsäure und o-Aminobenzolsulfonamid erhaltene Ringsystem geführt. Derivate dieses Ringsystems sind potentielle Diuretica. Der Strukturbeweis stützt sich auf das Kernresonanzspektrum des N-Methylderivats IV und auf die Synthese dieser Verbindung aus o-N-Methylsulfamylanilin und Phthalaldehydsäure. Weiters konnte die Stellung der Substituenten in den aus 4-Nitro- bzw. 4-Cl-Phthalsäure und o-Aminobenzolsulfonamid erhaltenen Derivaten durch eindeutig verlaufende Synthese der entsprechenden Dihydroverbindungen geklärt werden, die durch Oxydation in Benzothiadiazinderivate mit CN-Doppelbindung übergeführt und mit den ausgehend von Phthalsäuren erhaltenen Verbindungen verglichen wurden.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract 1-Oxo-1H-pyrrolo[2,1-c] (1,2,4)-benzothiadiazine-5,5-dioxide (I) was prepared by condensation of orthanilamide with maleic anhydride. The preparation of a number of derivatives of the new ring system is described. These are partly interesting as potential diuretics. The structure of the ring system being not totally clear from the synthesis was elucidated. Further, a number of C-3 substituted benzothiadiazines were synthesized, and the IR-spectra of their carboxylic acids were studied.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Durch Kondensation von o-Aminobenzolsulfonamid mit Maleinsäureanhydrid wurde das 1-Oxo-1H-pyrrolo[2,1-c] (1,2,4)-benzothiadiazin-5,5-dioxid (I) erhalten. Es wird die Synthese verschiedener Derivate des neuen Ringsystems beschrieben, die zum Teil auch als potentielle Diuretica interessant sind. Die Konstitution des Ringsystems, die aus der Synthese nicht eindeutig hervorgeht, wurde aufgeklärt. Weiters wurden verschiedene C-3-substituierte Benzothiadiazine dargestellt, und die IR-Spektren der Carbonsäuren genauer untersucht.
