Summary In smear preparations of laryngeal epithelial cells, the authors carried out statistical measurements of nuclear variation. The volume and the frequency of the two types of nuclei found in the smears of normal material showed a relative constancy. In the pachydermic condition, however, two new nuclear types appeared. Based on their frequency, the authors differentiated within the uniform pathohistologic picture two subclasses (pachydermia I and pachydermia II). The quantitative results obtained from the curves of the nuclear variations correlated well with the qualitative results obtained previously by fluoroscent microscopy.

Zusammenfassung Die Autoren führten an Kehlkopfausstrichpräparaten kernvariationsstatistische Messungen aus. Das Volumen und die Häufigkeit des Vorkommens der im normalen Ausstrichpräparat auffindbaren zwei Arten von Kerntypen zeigt eine relative Beständigkeit. Bei Pachydermien treten im Ausstrichpräparat zwei neue Kerntypen in Erscheinung. Auf Grund der Häufigkeit ihres Vorkommens stellen die Autoren innerhalb des einheitlich pathohistologischen Bildes 2 Unterklassen auf (Pachydermie I und Pachydermie II). Die auf Grund der Kernvariationskurven erhaltenen quantitativen Ergebnisse stehen in vollem Einklang mit den bereits früher im Laufe der fluorescenzmikroskopischen Analyse gewonnenen qualitativen Ergebnissen.
