Notes: Summary 1. The syntheses were effected of new polymeric substances, i. e., polyorganostannosiloxanes and poly organotitanosiloxanes, the chains of which contain not only siloxane links but also and links. 2. It was shown that and links in polyorganostanno- and polyorganotitanosiloxanes are broken down by strong sulfuric acid. 3. It was found that polyorganostanno- and polyorganotitanosiloxanes are soluble in organic solvents. The fractional compositions of these products were studied, and it was shown that they are cocondensation products.

Notes: Summary 1. An Investigation was made into methods for the introduction of a silicon-attached alkyl containing an ether or ester grouping into certain alkoxyalkyl(or aryl)silanes and acetoxyalkylsilanes. 2. By the reaction of sodium and ethyl bromoacetate with chlorodiethoxyethylsilane and with chlorodi-thoxyphenylsilane, the following organosilicon compounds were prepared for the first time: diethoxy(ethoxycarbonylmethyl)ethylsilane and diethoxy(ethoxycarbonylmethyl)phenylsilane. 3. Reaction between alkoxy(chloroalkyl)silsnes and sodium alkoxides yielded two new compounds: diethoxy(ethoxytrethyl)methylsilane and diethoxytmettnoxymethyl)methylsilane. 4. Reaction between chloro(chloroalkyl)silanes and potassium acetate yielded two new compounds containing an acetoxy group in a silicon-attached alkyl radical: diacetoxy(acetoxymethyl)methylsilane and triacetoxy(acetnxymethyl)silane.

Notes: Summary 1. The following compounds were synthesized for the first time: dibutoxy(methoxymethyl)methylsilane, triethoxy(methoxymethyl)silane, [acetyl(ethoxycarbonyl)methyl]diethoxymethylsilane, and (bisethoxycarbonylmethyl) diethoxyethylsilane. 2. It was shown that, in the hydrolysis of diethoxy(ethoxycarbonylmethyl)ethylsilane and diethoxy(ethoxycarbonylmethyl)phenylsilane in alkaline and acid media, elimination of the ethoxycarbonylmethyl group occurs. 3. It was shown that, in the hydrolysis of diethoxy(ethoxymethyl)rnethylsilane, hydrolysis of siliconattached ethoxy groups is accompanied by partial elimination of the ethoxymethyl group, the extent of the elimination being greater in an acid medium than in an alkaline medium. 4. In the hydrolysis of diacetoxy(acetoxymethyl)methylsilane, rupture of the silicon-carbon link in the grouping Si- CH2OCOCH3 does not occur to any appreciable extent either in alkaline or in acid media. 5. Alkaline hydrolysis of [acetyl(ethoxycarbonyl)methyl]diethoxymethylsilane does not result in rupture of the link between silicon and the carbon of the ester grouping.Such rupture does occur in acid hydrolysis.

Notes: Summary 1. In a study of the reactions of 1,1,1-triethylsilylamine and its N-alkyl derivatives (including the new compounds 1,1,1-triethyl-N-methylsilylamine and 1,1,1-triethyl-N,N-dimethylsilylamine) it was shown that treatment of these compounds with water causes the amino group to be replaced by hydroxyl and treatment with alcohols brings about replacement by alkoxyl. 2. The reaction of silylamines with aliphatic alcohols was applied in the synthesis of new compounds, namely alkoxytriethylsilanes (C2H5)3SiOR (R = propyl, isopropyl, butyl, isobutyl, isopentyl, and octyl). 3. It was shown that silylamines are of fairly good thermal stability and are not decomposed by long boiling.

Notes: Summary 1. By the cohydrolysis of ethoxytrimethylsilane with N-substituted (aminomethyl)diethoxymethylsilanes, liquid organosilicon polymers were obtained in which the terminal groups were trimethylsiloxy groups and there were 1, 2, and 3 intermediate organosilicon repeating units. 2. Activation energies for viscous flow were determined, and it was shown that, for a given degree of polymerization, the activation energy depends on the structure of the group introduced into the amino group. The investigated groups can be placed in the following order of diminishing activation energy for viscous flow: ClC6H4NH 〉 C6H5NH ≥ C6H5C2H5N 〉 (C2H5)2N.

    Notes: Summary 1. New organosilicon liquid linear polymers of structure $$(CH_3 )_3 SiO\left| {\begin{array}{*{20}c} - \\ { - - } \\ - \\ \end{array} } \right.\begin{array}{*{20}c} {CH_3 } \\ | \\ {Si} \\ {|CH_3 X} \\ \end{array} - O\left. {\begin{array}{*{20}c} - \\ { - - } \\ - \\ \end{array} } \right|_n Si(CH_3 )_3 ,$$ in which X=OCH3, OC2H5, and OCOCH3 and the degree of polymerization n had various values, were synthesized, and their principal properties were studied. 2. The temperature-dependence of the viscosities of the compounds obtained was investigated, and it was shown that the dependence is more marked in compounds containing acetoxy in the methyl side groups. 3. The activation energy for viscous flow of the compounds investigated in the temperature range 0°–100° depends on the nature of the polar group present. With respect to their effects on the intensity of intermolecular action in compounds of structure $$(CH_3 )_3 SiO\left| {\begin{array}{*{20}c} - \\ { - - } \\ - \\ \end{array} } \right.\begin{array}{*{20}c} {CH_3 } \\ | \\ {SiO} \\ {|CH_2 X} \\ \end{array} \left. {\begin{array}{*{20}c} - \\ { - - - } \\ - \\ \end{array} } \right|_n Si(CH_3 )_3 ,$$ the investigated groups may be arranged in the following order: $$ - NHC_6 H_5 〉 - OCOCH_3 〉 - Cl 〉 - {\rm O}C_2 H_5 〉 - {\rm O}CH_3 〉 - {\rm N}(C_2 H_5 )_2 〉 - {\rm H}.$$

Notes: Summary 1. A study was made of the replacement of the halogen of silicon-attached chloromethyl by an amino group. New organosilicon compounds obtained were: 4-[(diethoxymethylsilyl)methyl]morpholine, 4-[(ethoxydimethylsilyl)methyl]morpholine, o-chloro-N-[(ethoxydimethylsilyl)methyl]aniline, o-chloro-N-[(diethoxy methylsilyl)methyl]aniline,N-[(diethoxymethylsilyl)methyl]diethylamine, 2-(trimethylsiloxy)ethylamine, 2-[(trimethylsilyl)methyl amino]ethanol, and 2,2,8,8-tetramethyl-3-oxa-6-aza-2,8-disilanonane. 2. An investigation was made of the stability of the silicon-carbon bond in N-[(diethoxymethylsilyl)methyl] aniline in acid, alkaline, and neutral aqueous media at 40° and 90°, and it was shown that the Si- C bond is not broken in alkaline and neutral media under these conditions. In an acid medium rupture of the Si-C bond occurs to a slight extent with elimination of the anilinomethyl group, and the extent to which this occurs increases with increase in the acidity of the medium. 3. In the course of the study of the hydrolysis of N-[(diethoxymethylsilyl)methyl ]aniline in an alkaline medium, a crystalline substance was isolated and found to be 1,3,5-trisanilinomethyl-1,3,5-trim ethyl- 1,5-trisiloxanediol.

Notes: Summary 1. New liquid (1−n)-hexamethylpolychlorophenylethylsiloxanes containing 1, 2 or 3 chlorine atoms in the phenyl radical and 3 to 6 silicon atoms in the molecule were synthesized. 2. The physicochemical properties were studied and the dielectric permittivity of the new compounds was found to increase with increasing number of chlorine atoms at the phenyl radical and with increasing number of silicon atoms in the molecule. 3. Examination of the viscosity in the 0–120° temperature range showed that the activation energy of viscous flow in all of the (1−n)-hexamethylpolychiorophenylethylsiloxanes is considerably higher than that of the (1−n)-hexamethylpolydimethylsiloxanes. The activation energy of viscous flow rises sharply with increasing number of chlorine atoms at the phenyl radical and rises appreciably with increasing number of silicon atoms in the molecule.
