Notes: Abstract Excited states of73Se have been investigated up to spin, 21/2 using techniques of in-beamγ-ray spectroscopy in connection with the70Ge(α, n) reaction. Mean lifetimes of 12 levels have been determined applying Doppler-shift andγ-RF-methods. Five different bands have been identified that reflect a variety of different excitation modes. The decoupled 9/2+ band is likely to correspond to an oblate deformation while the 5/2+ band is interpreted as a strongly coupled prolate band built on the Nilsson configuration [422] 5/2+. The 3/2− band is a strongly coupled band built on the [301] 3/2} configuration.Nuclear reactions:70Ge(α,n),E=14, 16, 18, 19, 20MeV; measuredE γ,I γ,σ(E γ,θ),γγ-coin, linear polarization, DSA,γ(t).75Se deduced levels,I, π, τ, δ(E2/M1), B(σλ). Notes: Summary The separation of racemic side-chain fluorinated alkylbenzenes and bromofluorinated analogues by capillary gas chromatography using permethylated α, β and γ-cyclodextrins dissolved in polysiloxanes of different polarity as stationary phases is described. The influence of the achiral polysiloxane matrices on the separation of enantiomers is discussed in the light of the results obtained with the different phases. For a part of the tested compounds thermodynamic data are determined which describe the interaction of enantiomers with the stationary phase. The mechanism of separation is discussed on this basis and by comparison with data for structurally similar compounds.

Notes: Abstract The70Ge(α,nγ)73Se reaction was used to populate medium spin states of the73Se nucleus. Spins and parities up to about Iπ=(21/2+)ħ were determined by gamma angular distribution, gamma linear polarization and excitation function measurements.

Notes: Abstract High spin states of126Xe have been populated by means of the116Cd(13C, 3n) reaction using the OSIRIS-12 detector system. A level scheme consisting of 13 bands has been established. More than 40 new levels were observed and several spin and parity assignments could be made. Experimental Routhians and alignments of selected bands are presented.

Notes: Abstract High spin states of126Ba have been populated via the116Sn (13C, 3n) reaction and were investigated by inbeam gamma-ray spectroscopy. Partially NaJ (Tl)-BGO anti-compton shields were used. Two positive parity band crossings were established. The yrast band was observed up to a tentative 18+ level. The gamma-bands and two band structures of negative parity were found. In addition a tentative 3− state has been seen. Two-quasiparticle Routhians are constructed from the one-quasiparticle Routhians of the bands in the odd neighbouring isotopes and isotones and are compared to the ones observed in126Ba. This leads to ah 11/2 g 7/2-neutron structure of the strongly coupled negative parity bands and a two-quasiproton structure of the decoupled bands of negative parity. The branching and mixing ratios for the neutron bands are analyzed.

Notes: Abstract The low spin structure of128Xe has been studied by means of the (α,n) reaction using beam energies near the Coulomb barrier. An extended level scheme with spins I≤10ħ and many new spin and parity assignments could be established. The results point to the completeness of the reaction at low spins and excitation energies below 2.5 MeV.

Notes: Summary The capillary gas chromatographic retention behavior of α-pinene and tricyclene has been investigated on stationary phases of different polarities. On all but one of the columns employed, tricyclene eluted before α-pinene; only permethylated β-cyclodextrins dissolved in moderately polar polisiloxanes gave a reversed elution order. The intermolecular interactions which caused the unexpected retention behavior were investigated in detail, applying methods of computer simulation. To achieve this, we have developed a calculation algorithm on the basis of molecular mechanical optimizations and programmed it in a macro. This makes it possible to systematically investigate a given configuration space in which all the possible interactions can take place. It was shown that permethylated β-cyclodextrin as host molecule for both guest molecules offers an optimum cavity size. As a result the number of energetically favorable contacts between host and guest molecules as well as the strength of the interactions in this stationary phase were larger. As a consequence the elution order, normally only influenced by the vapor pressure of the compounds at a given temperature, was changed. Nonspecific interactions played an especially important role for these kinds of substances.

Notes: Gas Chromatographic Investigation of Stereoisomeric Cyclotrideca-1,5,9-trienesUsing achiral phases of different polarity in capillary gas chromatography on the one hand and a chiral cyclodextrine phase on the other hand it is demonstrated, that a ring-enlargement sequence starting from (E, E, Z)-cyclododeca-1,5,9-triene yields five of the six theoretically possible isomeric cyclotrideca-1,5,9-trienes and (E, Z)-trans-bicyclo[10.1.0]trideca- 4,8-diene. With all achiral phases only three of the isomeric trienes and the bicyclic isomer were separated from each other; (E, Z, E)- and (Z, E, Z)-cyclotrideca-1,5,9-triene are eluated in only one (the fifth) peak, these isomers were separated on the cyclodextrine phase. Moreover, this chiral phase separates the enantiomers of the bicyclic isomer.

Notes: Flumecinol and related compounds can, without derivatization, be separated into their enantiomers by gas chromatography on cyclodextrin phases; permethylated β-cyclodextrin dissolved in OV-1701 can be particularly recommended. Thermodynamic data describing the different intensities of interaction of the individual enantiomers with the stationary phases were determined. The values measured imply different separation mechanisms for the compounds investigated.
