Description / Table of Contents: Tetrabenzyltitanium and its o-halogenbenzyl derivates have only a small activity for polymerizing butadien. Aluminium trialkyls accelerate the catalytic activity. A very suitable system for preparing 1,4-cis or 1,4-trans polybutadien under normal pressure is formed by tetrabenzyl titanium and aluminium chloride as a co-catalyst.

Notes: Benzyl Titanium and Zirconium Alumina Catalysts for Partial Hydrogenation of AcetyleneBenzyl titanium and zirconium compounds of the types Bzl4M, C5H5MBzl3, and (C5H5)2MBzl2 form surface compounds on dehydroxylated alumina (15% α-, and 85% δ-Al2O3) which on hydrogenolysis yield TiH- and ZrH-species. The supported systems were studied with respect to catalytic activity in the partial hydrogenation of acetylene. Supported (C5H5)2TiBzl2 was proved to be inactive and the systems C5H5TiBzl3(Al2O3) and Bzl4/Al2O3 catalyze the formation of polyacetylene, but catalysts containing benzyl zirconium species are suitable for the partial hydrogenation of acetylene. Acitivity and selectivity of the system C5H5ZrBzl3/Al2O3 are comparable to industrial used Pd/Al2O3 catalysts.

Notes: About the 1-Camphenyl System - 1-Camphenyl Compounds of Lithium, Tin and Mercury1-Camphenyl lithium, 1-camphenyl isobutyl mercury an 1-camphenyl triethyl tin were synthesized and characterized by their 13C n.m.r. spectra. The lithium compound contains σ,η1-bonded allyl groups and suggests a weak interaction between the exocyclic double bonds and the metal atoms. The coupling constants 1J(199Hg-13Ci-C4H9) and 1J(119Sn-13CC2H5) in the spectra of the mercury and the tin compound allow to compare the donor strength of 1-camphenyl anion with those of other carbanions.

Description / Table of Contents: Preparation and Reactions of Sodium Telluride, Na2Te - Crystal Structure of [Na(CH3OH)3]2Te2Sodium telluride, Na2Te 1, is easily obtained by reaction of sodium with hexagonal tellurium in 1,2-dimethoxy-ethane in the presence of catalytic amounts of naphthalene. Upon exposure to oxygen 1 reacts with methanol forming [Na(CH3OH)3]2Te2 2, which crystal structure was determined. Compound 1, prepared in situ, can be conveniently converted into dialkyl tellurides, R2Te (R = C2H5, i-C3H7, CH2 = CH—CH2 3).

Description / Table of Contents: Beiträge zur Chemie der Alkylverbindungen von Übergangsmetallen.
Notes: The new paramagnetic (η5-C5H5)2Ti(FcN) III (FcN = 2-[dimethylaminomethyl]-ferrocenyl) and diamagnetic (η5-C5H5)2Zr(1-Camph)(FcN) IV (1-Camph = 1-Camphenyl) complexes were prepared and characterized by spectra and magnetic measurements. The crystal and solid phase molecular structures of (η5-C5H5)2M(FcN)2 (M = Ti I and Zr II) compounds were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. An M—C, N chelation of the (dimethylaminomethyl)ferrocenyl ligand was detected at compounds III (solid phase) and IV (solution), while such interaction fails at complexes I and II in crystalline phase.
