Notes: Abstract A weak intramolecular interaction has been found between anN,N-dimethylbarbituric acid ring and an aromatic system connected by an aliphatic chain, and has been studied by UV-VIS and NMR spectroscopy. ΔH and ΔS values have been determined from the temperature dependence of chemical shifts.

Notes: Abstract The15N-NMR-spectra of benzylideneN,N′-dimethyl barbituric acid andp-chloro-benzylideneN,N′-dimethyl barbituric acid have been measured together with their addition products with piperidine and morpholine. TheLewis Acid reactivity is discussed in terms of15N-chemical shifts.
