    Notes: Abstract  In order to assess the hybridization rate between oilseed rape and wild radish under normal agronomic conditions, three 1-ha field experiments were performed. In each case, wild radish plants were transplanted at different densities in the middle, the border, or the margin of the herbicide-tolerant oilseed rape field. Among the 189084 seedlings obtained from seeds harvested on wild radish plants, only one herbicide-tolerant interspecific hybrid (RrRrAC, 2n = 37) was characterized from seeds harvested on an isolated plant growing in the margin of the field. Thus, for the wild radish total harvest, with a 95% confidence limit, the frequency of interspecific hybrids was assessed to range from 10–7 to 3.10–5. Interspecific hybrids were detected in all cases among the smallest seeds with a diameter less than 1.6 mm harvested on oilseed rape, but the highest frequency was obtained from oilseed rape close to wild radish plants growing as clusters in the border or the margin of the field. Most hybrids had the expected triploid genomic structure (ACRr, 2n = 28) except for four amphidiploids (AACCRrRr, 2n = 56) and one hybrid from a wild radish unreduced gamete (ACRrRr, 2n = 37). Among the 73847 seedlings observed on the oilseed rape total harvest, the frequency of interspecific hybrids was assessed to range from 2.10–5to 5.10–4, with a 95% confidence limit. The results are discussed with regard to the type of oilseed rape variety used and the characteristics of the interspecific hybrids.

    Notes: Abstract The beta-gamma spectroscopic study of22O is presented. This nucleus, produced as a projectile-like fragment from the interaction of a 60 MeV/n40Ar beam with a Be target, has been separated by the LISE spectrometer. Several gamma rays from22O decay have been observed, from which a half-life of (2.25±0.15)s has been determined. Accurate excitation energies have been deduced for several states in22F. A partial beta decay scheme of22O has been established. Experimental results have been compared with shell model calculations.

    Notes: Abstract Neutron-deficient isotopes with Z=21 to 26 have been produced as projectile-like fragments of an intense58Ni GANIL beam of 69 MeV/nucleon. The nuclei selected by the upgraded LISE3 spectrometer were identified and implanted in a silicon detector telescope. The43Cr,47Fe and46Fe isotopes were identified for the first time whereas45Fe,45Mn,44Mn and42V were not observed, indicating probable instability of these nuclei against particle emission. Measurements of the half-lives of43Cr and46Mn have been performed and the analysis of their measured beta-delayed proton spectra has given, through the isobaric multiplet mass equation, an empirical estimation of their masses. Half-lives of44Cr,43V,47Fe and46Fe have also been measured. A discussion of various mass predictions for nuclei at the proton drip-line is given.

    Notes: Abstract At the projectile-fragment separator FRS of GSI, relativistic secondary beams of about 520 MeV/nucleon were produced by fragmentation of a primary beam of58Ni at 650 MeV/nucleon in a beryllium target. By means of aΔE—Bρ—TOF measurement, the fragments were identified and their charge-changing probabilities in targets of (CH2) n , C, Al, and Pb placed at the exit of the FRS were determined. Whereas a first article dealt with the total charge-changing cross sections, we describe in this second article the element distributions of these secondary fragments, which are found to depend strongly on the isospin of the secondary projectile as well as on the target material. In the case of the lead target, the influence of the electromagnetic dissociation is clearly visible in the one-proton and two-proton removal channels. The preference for the formation of even-Z fragments is much more pronounced for exotic secondary projectiles than for projectiles close to stability. Calculations with a geometrical abrasion-ablation model allow to understand the global features of the experimental data. However, far from stability, the discrepancies between calculations and experimental data increase.
