    Notes: Abstract Lifetimes of high spin states in the nucleus90Tc have been measured via the fusion evaporation reactions58Ni(36Ar,3pn)90Tc at 140 MeV and58Ni(35Cl,2pn)90Tc at 120 MeV beam energy. The OSIRIS spectrometer as well as a new neutron-γ-coincidence setup were used to measure lifetimes in the 10−12-10−9 s range by the recoil distance Doppler-shift method. By means ofγ-multiplicity and neutron-gated spectra fifteen lifetimes wered-educed. The experimental branching ratios and transition probabilities are compared to predictions of shell model calculations in a restricted π(p1/2), π(g9/2), ν(p1/2), and ν(g9/2) configuration space. In most cases the agreement with the calculations using the Gross-Frenkel parameters is striking but the results for several yrare states very sensitively depend on the residual interaction used.

    Apomorphine: Selective inhibition of the aversive component of lateral hypothalamic self-stimulation (1980)

    Notes: Abstract The effects of dopamine agonists on self-stimulation are a matter of considerable dispute. Apomorphine has variously been reported to inhibit, have no effect on, or to facilitate lever-press self-stimulation. To investigate the possibility that these discrepancies may reflect peculiarities of the lever-press test situation, the present study investigated the effects of apomorphine on locomotor initiation of and escape from lateral hypothalamic stimulation in a shuttle-box. Apomorphine had relatively little effect on the initiation behavior, but it produced a large and dose-dependent inhibition of escape. These data suggest that apomorphine acts to inhibit the aversive component of lateral hypothalamic stimulation. The implications of these findings for the usefulness of the shuttle-box in investigating the pharmacology of self-stimulation are discussed.

    Notes: Abstract High spin states of66,68Ge have been investigated at the FN Tandem accelerator of the University of Köln via the reactions40Ca(32S,α2p,4p)66,68Ge at a beam energy of 100 MeV and58Ni(16O,α2p)68Ge at 65 MeV. The OSIRIS spectrometer with 12 escape suppressed Ge detectors was used to measure γγ coincidences and γ-ray angular distributions. In66Ge (68Ge) 33 (22) new levels were found and 63 (62) new γ-transitions were placed in the level scheme. Both nuclei show a rather complicated but similar excitation pattern, ruled by the interplay of quasiparticle and collective degrees of freedom. The results are compared to the recently published EXVAM calculations for68Ge.

Reduced transition probabilities for about 50γ transitions were extracted. The experimental branching ratios in89Mo and reduced transition probabilities in all three isobars are compared with the predictions of the spherical shell model based on the restrictedπ(p 1/2),π(g 9/2), ν(p1/2),ν(g 9/2) configuration space with two different types of residual interaction.
