    Notes: Abstract Low-lying states of theN=50 nucleus87Rb have been investigated in the (α, α') reaction measuringγγ- and delayedγ-rf-coincidences. A half-life ofT 1/2=6(1) ns was obtained for the level at 1578.1 keV. This experimental result confirms the 9/2+ assignment and the proton 1g9/2 single-particle character of this state. Experimental M2 transition strengths in85,87Rb are compared with predictions of the shell model and the particle-core coupling model.

    Notes: The six principal clinical considerations which influence the choice of materials for total joint replacements are given.The necessity for screening tests on potentially useful materials is stressed. These should be carried out on specimens which have been exposed to the sterilizing process, which will be used in clinical practice. The materials should also be investigated after immersion in a physiological solution - bovine serum; following implantation in a large animal.Useful tests are impact testing, and wear studies using pin-on-disk and journal and bush specimens.In the case of total joint replacements, equipment in which joint motions and loadings can be simulated can provide valuable information. The components should also be subject to fatigue testing.There is a need to develop agreed laboratory methods for testing of materials and implants and for the long term follow up of patients.

With NC(CH2)nBr (n = 1, 2) instead of the analogous nitrile complexes (Ph3P)2NiBr2 and CH3CN or C2H5CN respectively are formed.
    Notes: Synthese, Eigenschaften und Reaktionen der Komplexe (Ph3P)3Ni(η1-NCR) (R = PhCH2, 2-MeC6H4, Me3Si) sowie die Kristallstruktur von (Ph3P)3Ni(η1-NCSiMe3) werden beschrieben. Mit NC(CH2)nBr (n = 1, 2) entstehen nicht die analogen Nitril-Komplexe sondern (Ph3P)2NiBr2 und CH3CN bzw. C2H5CN.
