Notizen: Abstract We investigate some real-time behaviour of a (discrete time) single server system with FCFS (first come first serve) task scheduling under rush-hour conditions. The main result deals with the probability distribution of a random variable SRD(T), which describes the time the system operates without violating a fixed task service time deadlineT. Relying on a simple general probability model, asymptotic formulas concerning the mean and the variance of SRD(T) are determined; for instance, if the average arrival rate is larger than the departure rate, the expectation of SRD(T) is proved to fulfilE[SRD(T)]=c 1+O(T −3) forT→∞, wherec 1 denotes some constant. If the arrival rate equals the departure rate, we findE[SRD(T)]∼c 2 T i for somei≥2.

Notizen: Summary In 50 patients lesions located in or adjacent to the motor strip were microsurgically removed with the help of intra-operative electrophysiological mapping of the sensorimotor cortex. Mapping consisted of cortical stimulation and/or recording of somatosensory evoked potentials. Depending on the patient's pre-operative neurological status, surprisingly good results could be achieved: The surgery resulted in increased permanent sensorimotor deficit in only 4% of cases and in improved neurological status in 30% of cases. It is concluded that surgical removal of centrally located lesions using a microsurgical technique and intra-operative mapping of the motor cortex is safe and permits extensive or radical resection of lesions, even those in the motor cortex itself.

Notizen: Summary A case of follicular centroblastic-centrocytic lymphoma with an unusually pronounced plasmacytic component occurring in the gingiva and cervical lymph nodes of a 74-year-old male patient is described. Immunohistological analysis revealed a monotypic intracytoplasmic immunoglobulin pattern (IgM/λ). The relation between follicular malignant non-Hodgkin's lymphomas and extramedullary plasmacytome is discussed. In the present case the tumour may represent the development of an autonomous plasma cell clone within a follicular centroblastic-centrocytic lymphoma.
