Notes: Abstract High-resolution spectroscopic analysis of inelastically scattered X-rayK β radiation of Cu from polycrystalline Be and B shows some peculiar structure in the region of the inelastically scattered radiation. Coherent scattering of the low-energy satellite structure of the primary Cu-K β lines, which extends in the same low-energy region, contaminates the inelastic spectrum and may be responsible for the observed structure. This “parasitic” elastically scattered radiation contributes to the background lying under the X-ray Raman scattering data and its knowledge is necessary for the correct evaluation of the Raman spectrum.

Notes: Abstract In the last 2 years, 29 children with nocturnal enuresis were treated in the outpatient departments of the Departments of Urology and Pediatric Surgery of the Aristotle University, Thessaloniki. There were 22 boys and 7 girls aged 7 to 12 years. The clinical examination was normal in all cases. All children had undergone various treatments with no beneficial effect, and relapses had occurred. The patients were given desmopressin (DDAVP) nasal drops in combination with bladder physiotherapy; 77% were cured after 12 months. Physiotherapy improves the percentage of cures as the functional capacity of the bladder increases.

Notes: Abstract Chronic functional constipation was confirmed by history, rectal examination, and rectal manometric studies in 20 of 26 children with enuresis. Treatment of constipation resulted in resolution of the enuresis. Uninhibited bladder contractions, observed in enuretic constipated children, were also noted in children with constipation alone, suggesting that constipation is a commonly unrecognized etiologic factor in enuresis.
