Abstract A 20-year experience at the AUBMC with six consecutive children suffering from acute acalculous Salmonella cholecystitis and four children with typhoid ileal perforation is presented. All patients were managed surgically without mortality. Early operative intervention and prompt parenteral fluid and antibiotic administration are advised. Cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis and suture closure of impending perforations were the procedures of choice. Other modalities of therapy are discussed. In patients with ileal perforation, delayed primary closure of the abdominal wound is recommended in order to promote adequate drainage and reduce septic complications.
