Zusammenfassung Bis zu 150 μMol Acetacetat/kg/min besteht bei gesunden Ratten eine lineare Beziehung zwischen Infusionsrate und Blutspiegelanstieg an Ketonkörpern. Zunahme der Infusionsrate um 10 μMol Acetacetat/kg/min bewirkt einen Blutspiegelanstieg um 0,072 μMol Gesamtketonkörper/ml. Die totale Clearance für Gesamtketonkörper beträgt 139±17 ml · kg−1 · min−1. Überschreitet die Zufuhr 150 μMol · kg−1 · min−1, so steigen die Ketonkörperspiegel rasch auf überhöhte Werte an. Aus den Daten lassen sich endogene Produktion und Verwertung von Ketonkörpern für jeden stationären Blutspiegel innerhalb der Umsatzkapazität berechnen.

Summary There is a linear relationship between the infusion rate of acetoacetate and the increment of the blood level of ketone bodies up to 150 μmol · kg−1 · min−1. An increase of the infusion rate of 10 μmol acetoacetate · kg−1 · min−1 causes an increase of the blood level of 0.072 μmol ketone bodies per millilitre. The total clearance for acetoacetate +β-hydroxybutyrate is 139±17 ml · kg−1 · min−1. The ketone levels rise rapidly towards high levels as soon as the capacity for utilization is exceeded. From the data the rate of endogenous production and of utilization of ketone bodies for any stationary blood level within the limits of turnover capacity can be calculated.
