Zusammenfassung Die Computertomographie des Rumpfes und der Extremitäten hat ihren Nutzen in der prä- und postoperativen Diagnostik bereits dargetan, indem die diagnostische Sicherheit morphologischer umschriebener Läsionen von keiner anderen Methode erreicht werden kann. Dabei handelt es sich um eine nicht invasive Methode mit einer Röntgenstrahlendosis, welche mit der einer einzigen Abdomenübersichtsaufnahme vergleichbar ist. Die Kosten der Geräteanschaffung sind hoch. Nimmt man aber alles andere auch in Rechnung, z. B. Vermeidung stationärer Aufenthalte, so sind die Gesamtkosten einer CT-Untersuchung nicht höher als bei vielen invasiven Untersuchungen.

Summary Computerized tomography of the body has made obvious the advantage as pre- and postoperative diagnostic procedure, since the accuracy of detection of cirumscript lesions cannot be obtained by any other diagnostic method. Moreover, it is a noninvasive method with an X-ray dose comparable to that for a plain abdominal X-ray. The costs of the machine are high. But taking into account for instance the unnecessary hospitalization, the expenditure is not higher than for many of the invasive methods.
