Notes: Abstract For the infinite dihedral double group D * ∞ and the finite dihedral double groups D 2 * through D 6 * ; D 8 * ; D 10 * ; and D 12 * , we present various choices of standard unitary irreducible matrix representations and discuss properties of corresponding 3-Γ symbols. The presentation follows a recent exposition of the general theory of 3-Γ symbols and coupling coefficients [1] and a companion description of general features of double groups and their irreps and 3-Γ symbols [2].

Notes: Abstract It is demonstrated that for the group-subgroup hierarchy I *⊃ C 5 * , one may choose standard irreducible matrix representations and corresponding all-real sets of 3-Γ symbols which obey a formalism just as elegant as the classical one for the 3-j symbols of the rotation double group. The 3-Γ symbols are phase-fixed by the specification of basis functions (or, equivalently, subduction coefficients) generating them and based on functions first given by McLellan. Other icosahedral double-group hierarchies are also briefly discussed.

Notes: Abstract We present sets of real 3-Γ symbols which correspond to explicitly given irreducible matrix representations for the two double group hierarchies T* ⊃ C 3 * and T* ⊃ C 2 * . They fit into the formalism exposed in a previous paper [1] on the general theory of 3-Γ symbols and coupling coefficients and illustrate much of the discussion in a subsequent one [2] treating the particular properties of the double groups.

Notes: Abstract For all the subgroup hierarchies descending from the octahedral double group O *, we have obtained sets of 3-Γ symbols and discuss here their properties. We have entirely real sets of 3-Γ symbols for the tetrahedral and tetragonal hierarchies as well as for O * ⊃ C 3 * . For the latter hierarchy and the tetragonal ones, formalisms almost as powerful as the classical one for the rotation group may be established. We also discuss results obtained for cases with strict adaption to D 3 * where it is now known that non-real 3-Γ symbols are unavoidable. The 3-Γ symbols are phase-fixed by the specification of basis functions (or, equivalently, subduction coefficients) generating them. The significance of the concept of associated representations of O* is discussed. The problems raised by the two multiplicity triples UT1U and UT2U in O* are given particular attention.

Notes: In recent years air quality and atmospheric investigations have become very important topics. This results from a new legal basis for environmental protection which generates the need for the accurate measurement of ambient conditions. Despite the importance of these investigations, detailed reviews characterizing the existing analytical GC systems are scarce. The author has attempted to remedy this unsatisfactory situation by presenting a comprative review of the principal commercially available systems as well as some homemade set-ups. No single method will be optimal for all purposes. The system of choice will depend on the particular application and on the quality and composition of the sample. This review does not attempt to cover all existing systems, but some exotic or lesser known systems have also been included.

Notes: Carbon-13NMR data recorded in the pulsed Fourier transform mode are re- ported for 1- and 2-naphthyltrimethyl- stannanes and 9-phenanthryltrimethyl- stannane. Assignments of ring carbon resonances are based on magnitudes of tin-carbon spin-spin coupling constants, substituent chemical shifts, spin-lattice relaxation times and proton coupled spectra.
