Zusammenfassung Die Zahl von »sister chromatid exchanges« (SCE) pro Metaphase wurde mit der Hoechst-Giemsa Technik an menschlichen Lymphocyten bestimmt. Die Zugabe von anorganischem trivalenten Arsen (Na2HAsO4) 10-6 M und 2x10-6 M zeigt einen signifikanten und dosisabhängigen Anstieg der SCE. Dieses Phänomen ist ebenso empfindlich wie der Nachweis von Chromosomenaberrationen der Lymphocyten durch Arsenexposition in vitro.

Summary The number of sister chromatid exchanges (SCE) per metaphase was determined in normal human lymphocytes by the Hoechst-Giemsa procedure. The addition of inorganic trivalent arsenic (Na2HAsO4) 10-6M and 2x10-6 M induces a significant and dose-dependent increase of SCE. This phenomenon is as sensitive as the evidence of arsenic-induced chromosomal aberrations in vitro.
