    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Experimentelle Untersuchungen am Schlundringbindegewebe von Cepaea nemoralis haben ergeben, daß — abgesehen von einigen Blutzellen—allein die Blasenzellen befähigt sind, injiziertes Ferritin aufzunehmen. Diese Substanz gelangt aus der Hämolymphe der Körperhöhle über das Gefäßsystem durch das Endothel der Kapillaren in die interzellulären Räume des Bindegewebes und von dort ausschließlich zu den Blasenzellen. Elektronenmikroskopisch zeigt sich, daß die Blasenzellen das Ferritin wahrscheinlich nur durch Endozytose im Bereich des Spaltenapparates aufnehmen. Das Ferritin wird nicht von der Zelle abgebaut, sondern auf engstem Raum, zum Teil in parakristalliner Anordnung, in Endosomen gespeichert. Die Fähigkeit der Blasenzellen, Fremdstoffe selektiv aufzunehmen, läßt vermuten, daß sie eine analoge Bedeutung für die Gastropoden haben wie die Pericardialzellen für Insekten oder das Retikuloendotheliale System für die Vertebraten.
    Notes: Summary Experimental investigations of the ganglionic connective tissue sheath of Cepaea nemoralis have shown, that — except for some blood cells — only the globular cells are capable for the uptake of injected Ferritin. This substance gets out of the hemolymph of the body cavity through the blood-vessels and capillaries, across the collagenous connective tissue into the cytoplasm of the globular cells. The globular cells take up the Ferritin by endocytosis, exclusively by the invagination of the „Spaltenapparat“. The Ferritin remaines accumulated in endosomes sometimes having a paracrystalline pattern. Because of their capability to incorporate and accumulate injected substances, the globular cells have been compared with the pericardial cells of insects respectively with the reticuloendothelial system of vertebrates.

    Notes: Summary The cell coat of the amoebocytes and globular cells occurring in the connective tissue of Helix pomatia and Cepaea nemoralis was studied with colloidal iron, Thorotrast, ruthenium red and Alcian blue methods. The positive reactions of the entire cell surface of amoebocytes to these cationic dyes indicate the presence of an acid sialic-glycoprotein. The cell coat of the invaginations of globular cells proved to be distinct from the remainder cell surface since it has shown the strongest reaction of ruthenium red. The importance of the cell coat in the mechanism of endocytosis is discussed.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Amoebozyten und Blasenzellen im Bindegewebe von Cepaea nemoralis zeigen deutliche Unterschiede in ihrer Endozytosefähigkeit. Grobe Partikeln wie Latexkugeln und Erythrozyten werden von den Amoebozyten endozytiert. Kleine Moleküle wie Ferritin und Hämoglobin werden hauptsächlich in den Blasenzellen akkumuliert, können aber auch von Amoebozyten aufgenommen werden. Dasselbe Endozytoseverhalten ist bei beiden Zellen zu beobachten, wenn Latex und Ferritin nacheinander in bestimmtem Zeitabstand angeboten werden. Die unterschiedliche Affinität der Amoebozyten und Blasenzellen zu den injizierten Fremdstoffen kann einmal durch ihre morphologische Oberflächendifferenzierung bedingt sein, zum anderen könnte ein funktionelles Zusammenwirken der Zellen im Sinne einer Arbeitsteilung vorliegen.
    Notes: Summary Amoebocytes and globular cells in the connective tissue of Cepaea nemoralis vary in the endocytotic incorporation of foreign materials of different size. Only the amoebocytes take up the latex beads and the red blood cells. However most of the injected ferritin and hemoglobin is ingested by the globular cells; a limited endocytotic capacity has been observed for these molecules by the amoebocytes. The results are the same, even though latex beads and ferritin are injected successively in definite intervals. Therefore the different affinity of amoebocytes and globular cells to foreign particles can not depend only on the morphological differentiation of their cell surfaces.

    Notes: The acidity of methyl protons in the 18-electron cationic complexes [MCp*Cp]1PF6- and [MCp2*]+PF6- (M = Co or Rh, Cp = η5-C5H5, Cp* = η5- C5Me5) has been used for novel syntheses of starburst organometallic complexes. [CoCp*Cp]+PF6- was deprotonated at -30 °C with Si2Me6NK (1 equiv) in THF to give the fulvene complex [CoICp(η4-C5Me4CH2)]. This was not stable at 20°C, but was characterized by 1H and 13C NMR at -30 °C. The complexes [MCp*Cp]+PF6- (M = Co or Rh) reacted with excess base (KOH or tBuOK) and alkyl halides (RX = CH3I, C2H5I, CH2=CHCH2Br, or PhCH2Br) to give decasubstituted complexes (i.e., two hydrogens of each methyl group are replaced by two R groups). Distinct endo and exo alkyl groups are observed in the new complexes by NMR at room temperature. Coalescence occurs at higher temperatures; this indicates that the bulky alkyl groups are rotating. The calculated activation parameters (ΔG≠) are 71.3±0.8, 70.3±0.8, and 81.0±0.8 kJmol-1 for [Co(C5iPr5)Cp]+PF6-, [Rh(C5iPr5)-Cp]+PF6- (in C6D5NO2), and [Co{C5-(CHEt2)5}Cp]+PF6 (in o-C6H4Cl2), respectively. The single directionality of these ligands is confirmed by the X-ray crystal structure of [Co(C5iPr5)Cp]+PF6. This structure clearly shows the “paddle wheel” conformation adopted in the C5iPr5 ligand, due to steric hindrance between adjacent isopropyl groups and the staggered conformation of the two rings. The relative E° values measured by cyclic voltammetry show that the electron-donating properties of the new C5(CHR2)5 ligand are between those of C5H5 and C5Me5- With the decamethylcobalticinium salt [CoCp2*]+PF6-, the permethylation reactions with base and CH3 I did not go to completion, even under forcing conditions and with repeated reaction (the maximum number of methyl groups introduced was 14). On the other hand, [RhCp2*]+PF6-, in which the distance between rings is larger than in the Co analogue, reacted with excess KOH and CH3I to give [Rh(C5iPr5)2]+PF6 in 55% yield; only one diastereoisomer was detected by NMR (ΔG≠ = 85.5±0.8 kJ mol-1 in C6D5NO2). The C5iPr5 sandwich complexes are extremely robust, even at the 19-electron (CoII) stage. The 20-electron K+ salt of the CoI anion was regiospecifically protonated by H2O at the Cp ligand to give [Co(C5iPr5)(η4-C5H6)] and was decomplexed at 190°C to K+(C5iPr5)-.

    Notes: [2.2]Paracyclophane-1,9-diene (1) is readily deprotonated at its vinylic positions with BuLi to give the monolithium derivative 2 and - in the presence of TMEDA - even the 1,9-/1,10-dilithium derivatives 1,9-/1,10-6. Reaction of 2 with a variety of electrophiles including benzaldehyde and ethyl formate led to bridge-substituted derivatives 3a-d (71-89% yields) and 4, 5 (95 and 91%, respectively). Electrophilic substitution of 1,9-/1,10-6 with benzaldehyde gave the bis(vinylbenzyl) alcohols 1,9-/1,10-8 in 39% yield. The vinylbenzyl alcohols 5 and 1,9-/1,10-8 underwent cyclization upon treatment with zinc(II) chloride in 1,2-dichloroethane to give the indene-annelated [2.2]paracyclophane 9 (72%) and the bis(indene)-annelated compounds syn-11 and anti-11 (39%, ratio 19:1). Both 9 and syn-11, when treated with FeCl2•(THF)2 after deprotonation with methyllithium in the presence of excess lithium cyclopentadienide gave mixed-ligand ferrocene-type complexes 12 (63%) and syn-/anti-16 (46%). The bis(indeno[2.2]paracyclophane-9-ene) complex 13 was obtained from deprotonated 9 in 61% yield and characterized by an X-ray crystal structure analysis.

    Notes: Die relative Flüchtigkeit in schwer trennbaren oder azeotropen Zweistoffgemischen läßt sich durch Zusatz eines dritten Stoffes so stark verändern, daß eine Trennung durch Destillation möglich wird (azeotrope und extraktive Destillation). Die zur Berechnung der relativen Flüchtigkeit notwendigen Aktivitätskoeffizienten im ternären System können nach verschiedenen Verfahren ermittelt werden. Es wird ein neues Verfahren angegeben, mit dem man die Aktivitätskoeffizienten des Dreistoffsystems aus Meßdaten der zugehörigen binären Systeme und aus Gesamtdruckmessungen im ternären System berechnen kann. Dadurch werden die mühsamen Partialdruckmessungen im Dreistoffsystem umgangen. Am System Methyläthylketon-n-Heptan-Toluol, für das sorgfältige experimentelle Ergebnisse vorliegen, wird es geprüft.
