ZusammenfaBung Nach Implantation von Gentamycin-PMMA-Kugeln bei Patienten mit Knochenund Weichteilinfektionen wurden die Gentamycin-Konzentrationen im Serum, Urin und Wundsekret bestimmt. Die Freisetzung von Gentamycin in hohen Konzentrationen erlaubt eine sehr wirksame lokalantibiotische Behandlung bei chronischer Osteomyelitis, infizierten Pseudarthrosen, infizierten Osteosynthesen, subphrenischen AbsceBen und anderen Weichteilinfektionen. Radikale Entfernung aller Nekrosen und Fremdkörper vor Implantation der Gentamycin-PMMA-Kugeln ist unerläBlich.

Summary Gentamicin concentrations in serum, urine, and wound secretion were determined in patients with bone and soft tIssue infections after implantation of gentamicin-PMMA beads. The release of gentamicin in high concentrations permits effective local antibiotic therapy in indications such as chronic osteomyelitis, infected osteosyntheses, infected, pseudoarthroses, subphrenic absceBes, and other soft tIssue infections. Before implantation of the gentamicin-PMMA beads, radical removal of all necroses and foreign bodies in absolutely neceBary.
