Notes: Abstract Fifteen species of monogonont Rotifera are recorded from India for the first time. These are Lecane acanthinula (Hauer), L. aspasia Myers, L. monostyla (Daday), L. ruttneri (Hauer), L. simonneae Segers, Lepadella costatoides Segers, L. cf. favorita Klement, L. minuta (Montet), L. triba Myers, Notommata pachyura (Gosse), N. saccigera Ehrenberg, Sinantherina semibullata (Thorpe), Trichocerca chattoni (De Beauchamp), T. kostei Segers and Taphrocampa selenura (Gosse). Taxonomic and/or zoogeographic notes are added, when appropriate.

Notes: Abstract The combined effects of sublethal levels of DDT (0, 15, 30, 45, and 60 µg·l−1) and food (Chlorella at 1 and 3 × 106 cells ml−1) on the demography of the rotifer Brachionus patulus were studied. The average lifespan, life expectancy, net reproductive rate (Ro) and intrinsic rate of increase (r) were significantly greater at the higher food level, but declined with increasing DDT concentration. A significant DDT food interaction was manifested in the toxicity-mitigating action of the higher food density at higher DDT levels. The r values were negative at DDT levels 30 µg · l−1 and above, only when food density was low. The effective DDT concentration at which a given parameter value was reduced to 50% of that in the controls (EC50) was lower at lower food levels for both survivorship and reproduction, and lower for reproduction than for survivorship at either food level.

Notes: Abstract A survey of rotifers from a small pond (less than 2 ha in area and 3 m deep), located at Kilometer 28 in the federal highway Ixtlahuaca-Jilotepec (19° 49′ 13″ N, 99° 42′ 22″ W) at an altitude of 2503 m above sea level, resulted in a total of 78 species. From these, 20 are new records for Mexico. This study confirms the presence of some of the rotifer species listed only in earlier studies. Comments on some species are made from a zoogeographical point of view.
