    Notes: Abstract A simple method for the preparative resolution of three Man3GlcNAc2 isomers called Ia, Ib and II has been designed. It consists mainly of the use of concanavalin A-Sepharose which allowed the total purification of Man3GlcNAc2-Ia, and then of anion-exchange resin in borate buffer-gradient to separate the Ib and II isomers. The purity of each oligosaccharide was checked by two HPLC methods. The use of these oligosaccharides for different analytical and biosynthetic purposes is discussed, and the unexpected resistance of one of the Man3GlcNAc2 alditols to the action of endo-β-N-acetylglucosaminidase H is noted.

    Description / Table of Contents: Synthesis of Oligosaccharide-L-Asparagine Compounds, VII. - Derivatives of 2-Acetamido-3-O-(2-acetamido-2-deoxy-β-D-glucopyranosyl)-N-( 1 -benzyloxy-L-aspartoyl)-2-deoxy-β-D-glucopyranosylamine 1)The Koenigs-Knorr condensation of 2-acetamido-3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-D-αglucopyranosyl bromide (1) with 2-acetamido-4,6-O-benzylidene-2-deoxy-β-D-glucopyranosyl azide (2)does not yield the expected (1→3) disaccharide. Therefore, other possible routes for the synthesis of this substance have been investigated. New intermediates thereby obtained in crystalline form allowed the preparation of the β-(1→3) amino sugar-disaccharide-asparagine 24.
    Notes: Die Koenigs-Knorr-Kondensation von 2-Acetamido-3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-2-desoxy-α-D-glucopyranosylbromid (1) mit 2-Acetamido-4,6-0-benzyliden-2-desoxyβ-D-glucopyranosylazid (2) führt nicht zum erwarteten (1→3)-verknüpften Aminozuckerdisaccharid. Deshalb sind weitere Möglichkeiten zur Synthese dieser Substanz untersucht worden. Dabei erhaltene neue, kristalline Zwischenprodukte haben schließlich die Herstellung des β-(l→3)-verknüpften Aminozuckerdisaccharid-asparagins 24 erlaubt.
