1,3-Bis(4-fluorphenyl)triazenido Complexes of Copper and Silver. Synthesis and Structure of [Cu(F—C6H4N3C6H4—F)]4, [Ag(F—C6H4N3C6H4—F)]4 and [Cu(F—C6H4N3C6H4—F)(OCH3)]4Form Na and 1,3-Bis(4-fluorphenyl)triazen freshly prepare triazenide in THF yields [Cu(F—C6H4N3C6H4—F)]4 (1) or [Ag (F—C6H4N3C6H4—F)]4 (2) upon mixing with the equimolar amount of CuCl or AgNO3 in CH3CN. 1 is slowly oxidized in CH3OH to form [Cu(F—C6H4N3C6H4—F)(OCH)3]4 (3). 1 crystallizes monoclinous in the space group C2/c: a = 2 601.2(7); b = 792.6(6); c = 2 421.9(9) pm; β = 114.19(3)°; Z = 4. 2 as well is monoclinic with the space group C2/c: a = 1 863.0(3); b = 1 270.2(1); c = 2 005.1(2) pm; β = 103.07(1)γ Z = 4. In both tetrameric complexes 1 and 2 the four metal atoms form a planar rhombus which edges are bridged alternately above and below by the triazenido ligands resulting in the molecular symmetrie C2. The short metal metal distances Cu—Cu = 260.70 and 260.98 pm and Ag—Ag = 280.64 and 283.37 pm are in the range of weak bonding interactions.3 crystallizes from CH3OH/THF as triclinic 3 · 2 THF with the space group P1: a = 1267.4(1); b = 1392.6(2); c = 904.8(2) pm; α = 98.00(1); β = 90.41(1); γ = 74.84(1)°; Z = 1. In the centrosymmetric complex 3 a cubane like Cu4O4 unit is formed by two parallel Cu2O2 rings. Two edges being formed by Cu atoms are each bridged by two triazenido ligands. The Cu2+ ions thereby obtain a square-planar coordination of two O and two N atoms.
Notes:
