2.3-Diphenyl-indenon-(1) (1) addiert in Benzol/Äther allmählich Diazomethan und -äthan zu Δ1-Pyrazolinen 2, bzw. 4, die zu Δ2-Isomeren 3 bzw. 7 umgewandelt werden können. Thermolyse von 2, und 4, gibt die tricyclischen Ketone 5, und 2.4-Diphenyl-naphthole-(1) 6. Mit Diazoäthan geben 2 Moll. 1 außerdem das Acetal 12, dessen saure Spaltung unter Pinakolin-Umlagerung zu 14 führt. - In Methanol/Äther entstehen aus 1 mit Diazomethan das Epoxid 8a und die isomeren 3.4-Diphenyl-napthole 9a und 10a in Form ihrer entspr. Alkyläther (analoge Äther 9b und 10b mit Diazoäthan), bei Zusatz von Kaliumhydroxid in Form ihrer Naphtholate. - Diazoessigsäure-äthylester gibt mit 1 unter Zusatz von wasserfreiem AlCl3 die beiden isomeren 3.4-Diphenyl-naphtholcarbonsäureester 9c und 10c die sich zu den Naphtholen 9a und 10a abbauen lassen. 9c cyclisiert in konz. Schwefelsäure zum Fluorenon-Derivat 15. Durch Oxydation der Naphthole 9a und 10a erhält man das 3.4-Diphenylnaphthochinon-(1.2) (11), das mit Diazomethan das Epoxyketon 16 liefert, welches durch Reduktion und Dehydratisierung in das Naphthol 10b übergeführt wird.
