Summary This work is focused on how oxygen stoichiometry and distribution affects the pretransitional region in YBa2Cu3O7−δ pellets prepared by different thermal treatments starting from the same batch with oxygen content 6.94. We find that slightly deoxygenated samples, which show higherT c and narrower transition than the starting material, also exhibit a more pronounced rounding of the resistivity extending towards higher temperatures. We analyse the presence and the extension of regions with different power law behaviour of excess conductivityvs. temperature.
