Notes: Summary Maternal and fetal cells of placental septa of newborn were determined using the quinacrine fluorescence staining of the Y chromatin. The septa are composed partly of fetal and partly of maternal cells, the proportion of each changing in different septa. Fetal large cells correspond to X-cells and clear trophoblastic cells, maternal large cells correspond to decidua cells.
