Notes:
Abstract Measurements via Laser-Doppler-Anemometry (LDA) were performed with the electrorheological fluid P 1723 (laboratory sample supplied by Robert Bosch GmbH, Stuttgart) inside a flat channel with electrically conducting walls. The results show i) marked quantitative differences to data obtained viscometrically and ii) large velocity fluctuations in the bulk regions of the channel. Formation of — possibly transient — structures would be consistent with this result.
