Notes: This paper addresses the problem of thermo-elastic deflection in beams using a two-dimensional finite elemement idealization of the cross-section. Bending effects are introduced in a gerneralized plane strain formulation assuming that constant curvature dominates the flexural deformation. The method leads to a plane strain calculation which is very interesting from the computational point of view; thermal deendence of the physical properties can be taken into account, which would be inconceivable in a three-dimensional problem.

Notes: Different mechanical formulations are employed for calculation of the large deformations occurring in metal forming processes. Eulerian and updated Lagrangian descriptions, valid for viscoplastic materials, are presented. In view of the numerical tests which were carried out, the Eulerian formulation, associated with an implicit integration scheme which proved to be numerically accurate and reliable, is shown to be preferable.

Notes: A method using a material description of the instantaneous configuration, valid for viscoplastic material with large deformations, is presented. In view of numerical tests which were carried out, this material formulation, associated with an implicit integration scheme which proved to be numerically accurate and reliable, is shown to be preferable. An algorithm is developed for resolution of sliding or evolving contact condition problems.
