In this paper, extensional universal serendipity elements (EUSE) are presented. The paper includes not only isoparametric elements with nodes from 2 to 32 having linear, quadratic and cubic node confiurations at their edges in an arbitrary manner, but also a series of transition isoparametric elements which can connect three-dimensional solid elements, axisymmetric solid elements with shell elements with shell elements and axisymmetric shell elements, respectively. Shape functions and their derivatives for EUSE are expressed in terms of three one-dimensional basic functions and their derivatives. EUSE is a more systematic, easy to program and ideal element family in the element libraries.
