Notes:
Summary Women with polycystic ovarian disease were treated with oral estrogens and progestogens and their ovarian volume, ovarian texture and uterine size were studied by ultrasound before and during treatment. A significant decrease in the volume and in the number of follicles in the ovaries was seen. Hormone therapy thus temporarily restores normal ovarian morphology in subjects with polycystic ovaries. The uterus did not change significantly during treatment.
