Zusammenfassung Wenn Kontinuität and Funktion des N. facialis nach Tumorresektion, Trauma oder Infektion nicht mehr wiederherstellbar sind, ermöglicht die dynamische Ersatzplastik fiber den M. temporalis einen kompletten Lidschluß, aktive willkfirliche Mimik der Lippen and Wangen, Ruhesymmetrie and Sprachverbesserung. Gillies verwandte einen Muskelstreifen des M. temporalis, bildete aus der Muskelfascie eine Schlinge, um den M. orbicularis oculi zu ersetzen. Die dynamische Aufhängung des Mundwinkels nach McLaughlin erfolgt mittels eines Fascia-lata-Streifens, der fiber den durchtrennten Proc. coronoideus mandibulae die Muskelkraft überträgt. Der Film zeigt die Operationstechnik und die prä- and postoperativen Bewegungsablaufe.

Summary If continuity and function of the paralyzed facial nerve cannot be restored, dynamic support using the temporal muscle enables complete lid closure and active movement of the lips and cheeks, therefore improving speech. Gillies used muscle transposition, forming a sling with the temporal fascia to perform active lid closure. McLaughlin described a technique of separating the coronoid process from the mandible, attaching fascia-lata strips to it and suturing these to the nasolabial fold and to the upper and lower lid for facial movement. The film shows the operative techniques and the postoperative improvement of facial expression.
