Summary Ten chronic schizophrenic patients were treated with hemoperfusion on a weekly or twice weekly basis for 6 to 10 weeks. Two of the patients improved markedly, while the condition of three of them deteriorated. These findings indicate that this method might not be of general usefulness in the treatment of chronic schizophrenic patients.

Zusammenfassung 10 chronisch schizophrene Patienten wurden ein- oder zweimal wöchentlich mit der Hämoperfusion über einen Zeitraum von 6–10 Wochen behandelt. 2 der Patienten besserten sich, 3 Patienten wurden schlechter. Eine allgemeine Behandlung chronisch schizophrener Patienten mit der Hämoperfusions-Methode scheint nach den vorliegenden Ergebnissen nicht gerechtfertigt zu sein.
