Notes: Abstract The temperature dependence of the critical current density at high temperatures and in weak applied magnetic field for YBa2Cu3O7−y ceramic samples with a pronounced granular character is analyzed. The experimental results can be explained in terms of thermally activated motion of the intergrain Josephson vortices at grain boundaries, which may be an indication that the actual limiting factor for the critical current density in ceramic samples results from a weak pinning force density for the intergrain vortices rather than from the weak-link quenching.

Notes: Abstract The maximum observed in the magnetic field dependence of the transport critical-current density of high-T c superconducting ceramics was analyzed. Transport critical current and magnetization measurements performed on Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O bulk sintered samples allowed us to conclude that such a maximum may result from the influence of demagnetization effects at low applied field values and an increase of the intergrannular pinning at higher fields.

Notes: Abstract The supercurrent-transport properties of YBa2Cu3O∼7 (Y∶123) polycrystalline bulk sintered samples with random grain orientation were thoroughly investigated. The dissipation process in these materials occurs due to intergranular flux motion, rather than by weak-link quenching. It was found that the model which takes into consideration collective creep of intergranular vortices is self-consistent in describing the low-voltage-level current-voltage characteristics and the intergranular irreversibility line of high-T c superconducting ceramics.
